The abundance of birds in downtown this weekend surprised me. While there are other shots of birds' flying motion, I like the birdfeeder the most. It not only adds an unique colour to the picture but also a story. She feeds the birds here on a daily basis. I really enjoy this capture of the interaction between birds and humans, which is why I choose this as my choice for term 1. To me, a good photograph not only shows technique but also tells a story. After this little journey of taking photographs, I feel that I really want to dig into street photography of cities. Whether the photos are snapshots or photographs, I want them to tell a story in the streets of everyone's life.
What do I talk about when I talk about autumn? My head immediately tells me two words: trees and leaves. .If there are any memories about autumn, it would be me picking up all the leaves that fell from the big tree in front of my house. Orange, red, brown, yellow, and sometimes green. The plenty of colours makes autumn an unique season.
The first picture is a woman exercising in the breeze of the autumn wind. The leaves are falling from the trees and the woman is running away from the sun to the shade. The second picture uses the rule of third to show a interesting point of view. The slope of mud seems like the underground roots of the trees above. No other season would allow me to capture this. The third one is a cliche but it is still worth shooting because it is what autumn is to me. The yellow leaves on the trees..falling everyday. The last one is my favourite. The scattered leaves and beautiful lighting give this picture a mystery and fantasy feeling. Among all the weathers. rain is the one I dislike the most. The sound of rainfall annoys me and the smell of rain disgusts me. However, the pictures that rain allows one to create are unique and beautiful. The first one is water droplets on autumn leaves. Second is mud puddle in a sewage hole after rain. Third is a reflection of water puddle in downtown using slow shutter speed technique. The ray of red truck made this picture stand out the most out of all the other photos taken at this scene. Maybe this project made me to like the rain a little bit.
The first panning was done beside the road. Tracking cars with the camera was embarassing and frustrating. The dusk, however, aided me a lot in taking pannings at a shutter speed of around 1/15. It took several trials to get a nice one but the result was rewarding. The second one was taken during art haus. I was trying to avoid the circle (cars) so I took one panning with a person. It was interesting to try but also took a lot of trials. The edits done were turning down the exposure and cropping. I didn't think there are a lot of editing needed.
